Financial Aid Verification Policy
Overview
God’s Bible School and College (GBSC) is committed to ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the financial aid process. The Financial Aid Verification Policy outlines the procedures for verification, notification, deadlines, corrections, and additional verification measures.
Financial Aid Verification Process
Selection for Verification
- The U.S. Department of Education’s Central Processing System (CPS) may select Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) forms for verification.
- Verification ensures accuracy, preventing ineligible students from receiving aid and confirming eligibility for qualified students.
Notification Procedures
- Students selected for verification will receive an email notification from the Office of Financial Aid.
- Detailed instructions on document submission will be provided in the email.
- Students are responsible for sharing verification requests with parents.
- Notifications will continue until all required documents are submitted or the deadline has passed.
Review and Resolution of Conflicting Information
- Upon document submission, the Financial Aid Office reviews FAFSA data and may request additional documentation.
- Conflicting information will be addressed promptly, with communication to the student for resolution.
FAFSA Changes During Verification
If FAFSA information changes as a result of the verification process, the Financial Aid Office will:
- Submit changes and corrections to CPS.
- Recalculate Federal Pell Grant based on the recalculated Student Aid Index or SAI.
- Notify the student by email of any changes to the FSA package.
Verification Deadline and Failure to Submit
- GBSC will not award or disburse Federal Student Aid (FSA) until the verification process is completed.
- Failure to meet the verification deadline may result in the removal of pending aid, increased account payments, late fees, and potential impacts on institutional discounts and scholarships.
- Delays in providing documentation after the U.S. Department of Education’s specified deadlines may lead to non-disbursement of federal student aid.
Corrections to the FAFSA
- The Financial Aid Office will update FAFSA information based on documentation provided.
- Students may also make changes to the FAFSA, with notifications sent for verification or changes impacting eligibility.
Additional Verification Measures
- GBSC reserves the right to select any student record for additional review, requiring identifying information and documentation.
- Failure to submit requested information may result in holds on student records, affecting course registration and financial aid processing.
- Any suspected fraudulent information will be reported to the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Inspector General, and relevant authorities.
FSA Fraud Cases
- GBSC will refer credible information indicating FSA fraud to the Office of Inspector General (OIG).
- Fraudulent activities, including false claims and use of false identities, will be reported for investigation.
